WHAT IS FUTSAL?
FUTSAL is FIFA's official form of indoor soccer (5v.5), it is one of the best ways to develop individual technical skills, speed of play and decision-making. Our Winter Futsal program will raise the players' technical abilities to a new level! Futsal fully engages ALL of the players while on the court, and makes players have constant touches on the ball. This will continue to help develop quick decision making and a high level of confidence on the ball.
"Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions are permitted. Unlike some other forms of indoor football, the game is played on a hard court surface delimited by lines; walls or boards are not used. Futsal is also played with a smaller ball with less bounce than a regular football due to the surface of the field. The surface, ball and rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity, and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces."
"The origin of Futsal (Five-a-Side Soccer) can be traced back to Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1930 when Juan Carlos Ceriani devised a five-a-side version of soccer for youth competion in YMCAs. The game is played on basketball-sized courts, both indoors and out without the use of sidewalls." - Alex Para, US Futsal Federation
